About
Pocket Offline started as a shared note between three friends who kept losing internet on commutes and long flights. We got tired of downloading games that turned out to need a constant connection just to open a menu, so we began keeping a private list of ones that actually worked in airplane mode. That list slowly turned into this site.
We are a small independent team. Nobody here works for a studio, and we buy or download the games ourselves like anyone else. When something is free, we say so; when it costs money, we tell you what you get for it. What we will not do is pretend a mediocre game is great because it looks popular.
Our pick process is simple. A game has to launch and stay playable with the connection switched off, it has to be finished enough to enjoy, and it has to give us something to talk about. We play for several sessions before writing, not five minutes. Then one editor drafts the review and another one plays the same game to check it.
We update the catalog when we find something worth adding, not on a schedule. If a game breaks after an update or quietly starts requiring internet, we go back and note it. The goal is a list you can actually trust before a trip.
