Puzzle games that respect your time

Puzzle games that respect your time

The best puzzle games understand that you might quit after one level or forty. They save instantly, never punish you for leaving, and never lock you out with an energy meter. Those are the ones we keep coming back to.

Tiny Signal Labs is a good example. Every level is bite-sized, there is an undo button, and the difficulty grows gently enough that you rarely feel lost. It became the game I open in waiting rooms because I can put it down the second my name is called.

When we test a puzzle game, we look for a fair hint system too. Getting stuck is part of the fun, but a well-designed nudge keeps you moving without spoiling the answer. Games that hide hints behind constant popups do not last long on our phones.

If you want a genre that is almost entirely offline-friendly, puzzles are it. The whole set of levels usually ships in the download, so a plane trip is the perfect place to make real progress.
