Tide and Timber
Tide and Timber sits in that comfortable spot between city builder and light strategy. You plan a coastal town, place docks and homes, and try to keep everyone fed while seasons and storms roll through. It never rushes you, and crucially it never asks for a connection to save your progress.
The strategy comes from limited space and shifting weather. A good layout in summer can flood in autumn, so you learn to build with the tide in mind. Resource chains are readable, and there is a satisfying moment when a struggling village finally becomes self-sufficient. We appreciated that there are no timers pushing you to open the app every few hours.
It is a slower game, and if you want constant action this is not it. But as a relaxing offline strategy to chip away at, it is one of the more polished we have tried this year.
